Frocks and tresses for 2013
Featuring a smorgasbord of Australian designers, the show was opened with flowing frocks in colourful prints by Sydney designer Leona Edmiston. Following this, Sally Cook’s label Saucy Rose paraded a swimwear line that was loud in colour and pretty in panelling, with white frills bordering vibrant florals.
The night went on with an array of designers – Chiquita Searle (designer of Chi The Label), Bettina Liano and Nicola Finetti among them – taking their turn to blitz the runway.
It was the perfect opportunity for fashion designers, buyers, media, and consumers to meet, mingle and lose themselves in this year’s up-and-coming trends. Eccentric prints, striking colours and bold combinations will see spring arrive in a rainbow of colour, a warming promise to deliver us through the winter months.
With Schwarzkopf Professional as the hair partner, the event’s ‘dos’ were nothing short of spectacular.
Hair on the runway was sleek and pulled back into a lengthy, threaded bind. The ‘after party’ look diverged from this sophistication, with laid-back curls in a casual down-do.
Marketing Director for Schwarzkopf Professional David Boyd explained why the partnership worked so successfully.
“Schwarzkopf Professional is committed to emerging fashion talent, which makes Fashion Palette a perfect partner,” he said.
“Working alongside designers and make-up artists, the Schwarzkopf Professional team assisted in translating fashion visions into reality, which provides a great experience for our artists.”
Just as the styles of spring were unveiled on the runway, Schwarzkopf has recently announced 2013’s trends for hair.
Boldly declaring ‘hairdos’ and ‘fine hairdressing’ are “officially back in style,” Schwarzkopf predicts glossy, fairytale tresses and classic ‘Big Bobs’ will hit Australia with enthusiasm.
“The Big Bob takes this classic style to the next level and gives a style that looks elegant and slightly retro in one context, and modern and opulent in others,” says National Technical Educator at Schwarzkopf Grant Withnell.
The ‘fringer’ look, with a sheer fringe hashed through red coloured locks, will also turn heads this year. While statement ‘sleek colours’, with multicoloured highlights, streaks, roots or tips, will marry edginess with style.
Whether it’s the hair or the fashion, the rest of 2013 will see styles suited to any woman’s individuality. The vibrant prints of spring 2013 will contrast deliciously with statement coloured hair. And brunettes and blondes sporting a classic ‘glossy do’ or ‘big bob’ will easily coax the flowing frocks to life.
