Spa break: Conrad Bali Resort & Spa

A little indulgence goes a long way. There’s nothing quite like a holiday to recharge your batteries and, when you throw in time spent unwinding in an award-winning spa, that indulgence can go even further.

Conrad Bali is a luxury beachfront resort located on the southern coast of Bali, an island in the Indonesian archipelago with an alluring blend of natural beauty and timeless traditions. Contemporary in design, the resort boasts panoramic views to the ocean, lagoons dripping with cascading waterfalls, and acres of pools and gardens, allowing you to step out of the hustle and bustle of nearby Kuta and lap up the luxury that is Conrad Bali Resort & Spa.

Tucked away on 6.8 hectares of tropical gardens and with its very own stretch of private beach, Conrad Bali has more than 350 guest rooms and suites, a range of inspired dining options including their signature beachfront restaurant Eight Degrees South, and extensive leisure facilities including the Jiwa Spa and Kura Kura Kids Club. With so much on offer, the Conrad Bali is the ideal base for a family holiday or girly retreat but, with a busy year behind me, it was the Spa I was here to see.

The hotel estate itself is both contemporary and striking in style and, as you wander through the resort to the hidden and secluded Spa, breathing in the alluring beauty, you’ll get an insight into just how beautiful this resort really is.

Jiwa Spa takes its name from the word in Bahasa Indonesian meaning ‘soul’, and is designed to provide a tranquil escape from everyday life – a place to calm the mind and replenish the body’s precious energy.

With the emphasis being on water and aromatherapy treatments with a selection of incorporating ancient Indonesian traditions and rituals, the Spa has seven treatment rooms each with a massage bed, a deep soaking tub and a shower cabinet. A couple’s treatment room holds a freestanding, black granite soaking tub for two, overlooking the water gardens.

Five spa pavilions and two spa villas surround a 25-metre outdoor pool with each private villa encompassing indoor and outdoor treatment areas for two, overlooking the water gardens, with an ocean or garden vista. A separate relaxation theatre opens out onto a pavilion dining area with outdoor Jacuzzi and steam showers.

This serene escape offers an array of treatments for everyone. From Jiwa Signature rituals exclusive to the Spa or Jiwa Pairings giving you the ultimate benefits from the most ideal combinations of therapies.

Jiwa Spa also includes a Wellness Studio, reflexology centre, and a salon which offers a full range of beauty services, including hair care cream baths, manicures, pedicures, and wax. A subtly lit lounge where spa guests can relax before or after their treatment is also available.

The Wellness Studio goes hand in hand with Jiwa Spa and offers a choice of exclusive mind, body and soul therapies including yoga, pilates meditation and stretching exercises. The extensive Wellness Studio has a variety of programs, fitness club, meditation room and two flood-lit tennis courts.

But Jiwa Spa isn’t just a luxury for adults. For children over the age of eight, a special spa menu can be custom-designed so children and parents can enjoy the spa adventure together. The varied treatments available include a three minute massage, foot bath and mask, coconut-tangerine hair cream wash and a special children’s 1000 Bubbles bath play menu with tempting flavours such as Double Chocolate Fudge, Banana Split and Milk Bath.
