Apple started something of a revolution when they launched the App Store in July 2008. Since then, well over 700,000 apps have been compiled by clever developers and programmers which, between them, have clocked up nearly 25 billion downloads.

But with such a vast wealth of apps available, some gems can get lost. To help you out, and keep you keep on top of your tribe we’ve compiled the best apps for busy single parents.

Vodafone Guardian

No parent needs a tired teen on their hands, but for safety and communication reasons it’s sensible to allow your child a mobile phone.

It’s been estimated that teens need between nine and 10 hours of uninterrupted sleep to perform well at school and gadgets – such as smart phones – have been blamed for a creating a generation of young insomniacs who respond to Facebook updates and text messages during the night. Vodafone Guardian lets you block access to the web during school hours, bar texting after bedtime and turn off unwanted applications including Facebook and YouTube.

The free tool, which is designed for use on Android mobiles, can also enable parents to help their children if they are being bullied, preventing them from receiving unwanted calls and messages.

    I would certainly get this type of app for my kids. I’m not always around to check what they do or sites they visit over the internet using their smartphones, when i install app it would somehow lessen my worries.
